BC Environmental Inc. is a Florida based environmental remediation contractor specializing in safe handling of hazardous materials and air pollutants.  We have been providing these services to hundreds of commercial, industrial, and residential clients since 1990.

Our current primary service offerings are mold remediation and water loss restoration work.  The firm is certified by the IICRC and key personnel hold certifications in applied microbial remediation and water damage restoration.  We also provide an array of IAQ response actions such as air purification, carpet/HVAC system cleaning, de-humidification and workplace dust control.

The issue of mold and the recent public awareness surrounding it is caused in no small part by the types of structures we live and work in today.  Generally, air movement in contemporary structures is limited and very little outside air gets in.  Windows in office buildings are now typically sealed and very little air exchange takes place.  These features have energy savings in mind and but come at the expense of indoor air quality.  If water enters a structure and isn't able to properly evaporate, mold is the inevitable result.  Mold can also occur slowly due to elevated humidity levels in occupied or vacant structures; e.g., unsold real estate, homes or winter residences that have been empty for an extended period, etc.

While the advantages of hiring a consultant are many; e.g., expert sourcing of the water intrusion and a single plan of action rather than many, etc., some projects may not need to be “over-engineered” if they are in fact, relatively simple ones.

Locating and fixing the source of water intrusion or elevated humidity is the highest priority in any remediation project.  Once this has been accomplished, the following response actions are typically undertaken by our team:

 Use of air scrubbers to purify the inside air of dead/living fungal spores and mVOCs;

Use of dehumidifiers to bring relative humidity down to 35% - 50%;

Use of an electric fogger to atomize the inside air and inhibit future growth of moldand other airborne microorganisms;

 Use of HEPA Vacuums and wet wiping with biocides to clean and sanitize interior surface areas;

 Professional cleaning of carpet and HVAC systems; and,

 Conducting post-remediation inspection, air testing and analysis via an independent industrial hygiene firm and laboratory.

A determination should also be made whether or not any of the structure’s components or materials has been damaged by mold and whether they should be chemically treated or removed.  This is where a consultant’s expertise is particularly valuable, and where you’ll see varying response plans by remediation contractors.

We at BC Environmental Inc. look forward to assisting you in any way possible on your next project.  Contact us for a free quote today!
