ASBESTOS ABATEMENT:

Assessment
BCE will provide inspectors to conduct an asbestos audit to determine the presence, location and quantity of asbestos containing materials (acm). A survey report presents options for dealing with the materials identified and the costs associated with each alternative. Finally, a management plan outlines an overall strategy for remedial action.

Management
The solutions for managing acm are wide ranging: from complete removal to careful monitoring. If removal is warranted, BCE asbestos abatement specialist will perform the work with a thorough understanding of your unique situation.

Other abatement contracting services include enclosure and encapsulation. Enclosure involves erecting a solid, sealed, physical barrier between the asbestos and areas occupied by people. With encapsulation the acm is sprayed with a liquid-applied product which binds the fibers together, thus preventing their release into the air.

When total removal is too costly or too disruptive to an occupied property an O & M (Operations & Maintenance) program may be considered. An O & M program may include clean-up, repair of damaged asbestos, encapsulation, enclosure, removal, air sampling and/or training of maintenance and engineering personnel. The basic goal is to demonstrate that the owner is aware of the asbestos and is taking a thoughtful approach to improving the situation.

Industry
Modernization, modification or reactivation of an industrial facility necessitates the careful assessment and management of acm.

BCE makes it a priority to understand a plant’s production flow, scheduling and planned shutdowns in order to minimize the impact of abatement on plant operation. Proper preparation, teamed with close communication, provides factories, refineries and power plants an efficient, cost effective solution to an acm problem.

BCE also offers “phased planning”, designed to manage an acm problem while determining the best long term alternatives. High risk situations are addressed immediately, while extending the total financial commitment over time.

A sincere regard for the public’s health, as well as a legitimate concern over financial liability and property salability have motivated commercial building owners and managers to active abetment planning. It is not uncommon today for an asbestos-free clause to be a part of a real estate contract, or, for an asbestos report to be required in a pre-sale disclosure agreement.
